Summary
When Mob was seventeen, he and Reigen had a secret relationship that no one knew about. They had hoped to at least keep it hidden until he turned eighteen and figure it out from there, but things are never that easy. After getting caught, the two are forced to never see each other again, and Reigen must leave his entire life behind to follow the path his mother set for him, even if it means having to marry a woman he hardly knows. However, just moments before he has to walk out and say "I do", an unexpected visitor appears in Reigen's room with the means to an escape.

Joseph still looks apprehensive. He puts a finger up to the earpiece and listens carefully to whoever is on the other end. Then, he sighs and crosses his arms over his chest, leaning back. “Our records say that Reigen Arataka is the one who eventually stopped him. Why?”
Again, Rei’s eyes shift all around, and his expression shifts from realization to sadness in the blink of an eye. “Because that’s how it happened in my world… I also tried to stop him, but I couldn't and— and because of that, Shigeo…” He pauses, swallowing thickly. “Shigeo is the one who wiped out humanity. He's the one who destroyed my universe.”
After the finale of Mob Psycho 100, four years have passed since Mob learned to accept himself, and although things are complicated between him and Reigen, life couldn’t be more normal. That is, until strange things start to happen in Seasoning City, and his whole world is suddenly flipped upside down after someone from an alternate universe unexpectedly arrives with the sole purpose of saving them from utter destruction. To save them from… Shigeo.

Summary
Reigen wants to tell him he’s wrong. He wants to say that it’s not Mob who is the lucky one, but rather Inaba. He’s lucky to have won Mob’s heart. He’s lucky to have such a sweet, caring man who is willing to put his everything into this relationship. He's lucky…so, so fucking lucky that Mob looks at him the way he does.
Why can’t that be him? Why couldn't the universe have made things different, make things simpler? Why did the love of his life have to be fourteen years younger than him? Why, why, why?
“Yeah. He sure is lucky.” Reigen says bitterly, venom on his tongue.
Mob has finally returned home after graduating college but with a new friend and some horrific news for Reigen.

Mob scowled at the impostor, feeling the build-up of his powers already surging through his body. “You're not Reigen-shishou.”
Reigen paused and then laughed incredulously. “What are you talking about? I get that I’ve been M.I.A. for a few days, but it's not like I went on some spiritual retreat to another country or something. I'm still the same dear ol’ Shishou, you know, and–”
“Stop lying.” Mob snaps, interrupting Reigen mid-sentence.
“You’re not Reigen-shishou,” Mob repeated, his blood already boiling. “Because no matter what the situation, Reigen-shishou still calls me Mob.”
“Damn, and here I thought I was in the clear. Guess I got too careless.” Reigen’s voice changed. It was still partially mixed with Reigen’s, but the other voice Mob could hear was demonic and evil.
A spirit.
It's been exactly one week since anyone has heard from or seen Reigen Arataka. And when Mob finally finds him, it's purely coincidental. He should be happy– relieved, but something isn't right about him.

Reigen gave a short huff of laughter and grabbed his mouse, clicking away suddenly at something on the screen. “Yeah, you’re so convincing.”
Something inside of Mob truly snapped at that, and the office door slammed shut with nary a flick of his fingers. “Fine,” he said, coldly. “Let’s say I’m not. You won’t be so confident when I throw you onto that massage table and screw you.”
Reigen whistled. He didn’t even look up from his laptop. “Big talk. When was the last time you put your money where your mouth is?”
