She loved his smile, and the way he always sought her out at family parties, and the shared jokes they had developed over the years. She loved him in a way that felt real, as though it might someday, somehow, amount to something.
Anthony was different.
She loved Anthony like she loved the sun: basking in his warmth whenever it happened to fall across her, but never once mistaking it for something meant specifically for her. Loosely inspired by the country song "Getting Over Him Guy" by Lauren Alaina ft Jon Pardi.
Pen has had a bad month, a bad year if you really wanna get into it, but the last month has been worse than the other eleven combined. Thankfully, her best friend Gen has a plan to get her out of the funk she's felt since the end of her, agreeably terrible relationship.
Anthony is well versed in how to please a woman, that comes in handy when a past lover texts him and asks if he is free to show her friend a good time. The friend? A total knockout with a body he could only dream about before tonight. So he tells her to set it up and ends up finding even more than he expected.

Penelope was just trying to live her life when her childhood friend she hasn't heard from in three years showed up and pleaded with her to take in her child, temporarily she hoped. It was just too dangerous to travel with a baby and while Pen had always wanted a family, she didn't exactly want it to happen like this. She realized pretty quickly that she was going to have to hire someone, or most likely two people. A wet nurse, and at least one person to help with the ranch work.
Anthony was knocked out and left with little more than a bit of amnesia. He was eventually pointed toward a widow's homestead where he could work as a ranch hand until he figured out what came next. He knew there was something important he was supposed to be doing but he couldn't remember what exactly.
