Summary
"Congratulations," Francesca said. Only she could hear the slight edge beneath it, the anger that had been simmering for ten years finally finding its way to the surface.
"Thank you." Michaela's voice was quieter, softer, almost uncertain.
Francesca extended the award. The crystal was cold and heavy, the engraved plaque catching the light. For a moment they both held it—Francesca's hands on one side, Michaela's reaching for the other. Their fingers brushed. It was the barest contact—the pad of Michaela's thumb grazing Francesca's knuckles as she took hold of the trophy. But the sensation was electric, a shock that traveled up Francesca's arm and exploded somewhere in her heart. Heat and ice at the same time. Recognition. Memory. The ghost of every time they'd touched before.
Ten years ago, Francesca Bridgerton lost the girl she loved. Michaela abandoned her.
Ten years ago, Michaela Stirling lost the girl she loved. She was taken away from Francesca.
Now they’re co‑stars in the most anticipated movie of the year, pretending they don’t remember how it felt to lose each other.

Summary
Hyacinth stopped a few feet from the dance floor and turned to her sister. “Okay, have fun!” Hyacinth grabbed both of Francesca’s shoulders with a supportive smile.
“NO! Absolutely not!” Francesca grabbed her arm, stopping her from walking away. “You dragged me here. You’re not leaving me!”
Hyacinth offered her a sympathetic smile, “How are you going to find a sexy stranger to climb you like a tree if your little sister is attached to your hip all night?”
“Climb me like a-“ She shook her head, bewildered by the things her sister says sometimes.
Hyacinth laughed. “Get a drink at the bar, maybe join us on the dance floor. You’ll be okay without me, Fran.”
Francesca stared at her with a mixture of anger and anxiety. She stood there like a dog being abandoned on the side of the road by their cruel owner.OR
Hyacinth talks Francesca into seeking out a one night stand because having a little fun would be good for her. Just sex! No strings! No feelings. Yeah absolutely no feelings.....right? Easy as playing Mary Had A Little Lamb on the piano, Francesca could do that.

Summary
The touch of Michaela’s hand on her cheek acted like a key turning in a lock. Francesca’s resolve, which had been a fortress of silence for four long years, crumbled in a single, shuddering breath. She reached up, her slender fingers clutching at the lapels of Michaela’s expensive blazer, pulling her closer as if she were trying to merge their two broken halves into one. A sob escaped her, a sound of profound release that echoed the desperation in Michaela’s own lungs.
"I didn't know how to tell you!" Francesca sobbed, her voice muffled against Michaela’s shoulder. She clung to the fabric of the blazer, her small frame shaking with the force of years of suppressed longing and fear. "Look at your life, Michaela! Look at the world you built! You were becoming a queen in a kingdom of ice and politics. How could I possibly bring a child into that? How could I tell the woman who had forgotten how to be soft that she had a daughter?"

Summary
"Well, it's really gentle out there right now," Francesca says, gesturing to the ocean. "Would you—I mean, I could teach you?"
Michaela blinks at her dumbly. A stranger. Teaching her to surf. While she's alone and hours from home. That seems like a catastrophically terrible idea.
But Francesca is looking at her with hopeful doe eyes and wringing her hands together nervously, and honestly, Michaela's only human.
OR
Michaela meets a hot surfer on her solo beach vacation and tries very hard to be normal about it.

Summary
Aniya Harvey is a slow pasted type of woman when it comes to sex. She doesn’t just completely give herself up unless that man is worthy of it. But goddamn it, Carl Lee Schmidt was worth it all.
