Summary
What if Alina tried to go back to Aleksander long before they reached the stag? What if other's had prevented her? Alina struggles to get home when everyone around is against her, ready to accept who she was meant to be and take her place in the spotlight.
Sort of a sequel to 'Alina actually has time to think' in that it's a similar format where she is essentially kidnapped despite trying to choose Aleks almost right from the start.

Alina laughed. She threw her head back and laughed at the absurdity.
“It’s a perfectly reasonable request.” He echoed her words from earlier. “Rulers solidify treaties and ensure peace through marriages all the time.”
She blinked. He was right. And he was beautiful when he was like this, impassioned, sure. She hated him for it.
OR
When Alina surrenders herself to save her people and everyone she loves, she finds herself at the mercy of the Darkling. To her mounting horror she realizes he isn't at all the monster he seems. Or perhaps he's exactly what he seems, but just not to her.
