This is a story with plot (and spice dw). Told primarily from Xiao | Alatus Perspective
Aether abandoned Lumine in full, choosing the darkness of the void over her. Aether, her twin, the only stable thing she's ever know in her cursed, immortal life. Thinking about it makes her feel as though she is dying inside; withering away into nothing but smoke and ash. That pain tore at her, shredding her heart into a thousand irremediable pieces. She tried her best, continuing her journey for far longer than most would consider reasonable, all to no avail. Aether was lost to her, maybe forever.
Distraught and alone in the world, she found herself settling in a quiet meadow northeast of Liyue Harbor. Her depression spiraled out of control, leading her to reckless and dangerous behavior. Xiao saw her pain and desperately wished to ease it. He decided to start visiting her. In the beginning they were spontaneous and rare, yet as time continued its endless march, she slowly began calling to him, and he never failed to answer. This became their routine, her call coming at the first light of each new dawn.

Summary

THIS STORY IS ON HIATUS
If you found this because you're a fan of my work... don't read this one. Its really not very good. I plan on completely overhauling this story from the ground up, maybe even just deleting it entirely. Haven't decided yet.
TL;DR: Lumine is trying to pull Xiao out of his isolation. She plans an event, he does not show. She goes to find him, almost dies. He saves her in an unconventional way, causing... unforeseen problems.
The pain in Xiao's eyes is apparent to anyone who looks, the problem is that so few do, and it breaks Lumine's heart. Xiao saved her life a few months back, and during this encounter, she saw his venerable side, the kindness he tries so hard to hide. She found herself slowly falling for this aloof man with the golden eyes. Those eyes, filled with equal parts sadness and longing melt her soul.

For a few years you had managed to escpae it all, trying to live a normal life as a normal person, but being normal just was not a privilege you were granted. When you got back in contact with your family you thought you had truly come to peace with it all, but when a...rather unique person with strong cursed energy and no visible connection to Jujutsu Tech appeared, you felt like you could finally be useful.
"Horrified, you shook your head when he started moving towards the metro doors at exactly your station. Where you wanted to be, at least. If this would fail, you knew where to go. Taking a deep breath, you clenched your jaw, following him closely, even outside of the metro. He walked quickly, but since you’d been quite literally trained to chase and run, you had no problem following. One big gulp, one deep breath, one tug on your own neat collar.
“Pardon? Pigtail guy, wait up!”
Putting on your most approachable smile, you caught up to him, easily strolling next to him when he slowed down, those dark eyes immediately fixing on you, as though they wanted to cage you.
