All of a sudden, Nora was sitting up on her knees and shaking her head vehemently. Wille sort of wished he could open his mouth to stop his daughter from saying whatever meddling thing she was about to say if the turn of her grin was anything to go by, his face going a deep red as she demanded, “No, no, you should stay with us, Simme! We can have a sleepover!!! Right, Pappa? Right?”
Wilhelm shuffled his weight from foot to foot and chewed on the inside of his cheek. The idea of Simon in his flat, in his space, was as painful as it was beautiful. His eyes searched the other man’s face for a moment, trying to determine whether or not his little heart could handle it.
But then there was Nora’s face, and Wille knew that the opinion of his heart didn’t really matter because hers would break if he said no.

“Oh, thank you,” Simon rushed out, turning his attention to the girl because it was much easier than staring at the man she was with. The girl gave him a toothy grin, to which Simon noticed she was (adorably) missing some of her bottom teeth. He gave her a smile in response, and that seemed to give her the confidence to thrust a plastic tupperware containing star-shaped cookies at him. “What’s this?”
“Cookies, silly!” she explained, holding them higher as if he hadn’t noticed the contents yet.

When he wakes he’s greeted by a coughing fit and a spatter of blood to his waiting palm.
The taste of dirt and plasma and bile on his tongue.
He’s pathetic. Simon is never going to love him back, not that he should. Wilhelm doesn't deserve it. Not after the way he hurt Simon. Not after he did absolutely everything in his power to fuck what they had up.
