Ilya closes his eyes.
He blinks back his tears. He wants to nod or shake his head or something, but he can't.
This can't be happening.
He blinks and blinks and blinks again but he's still in the hospital and he still feels like shit and his mom is dead and Shane is far away and he thinks he's depressed and there is something inside of him that he doesn't know what to do with.
Fuck, he thinks, in russian and in english and in french, even. Fuck.Or, in 2020, Ilya has a (very) unplanned, (very) complicated pregnancy, Shane has to learn that sometimes things don't work out the way he planned, and some other things. Set in The Long Game, kind of.

He slides the mug over to Shane, his favorite green one with the skeleton of a pterodactyl from the natural history museum. “What if…it’s positive?” Ilya pulls the box towards himself while looking at Shane.
“Then we talk about it,” Shane says easily, blowing on his tea.
“You know it will be,” Ilya widens his eyes shaking his head a little.
Shane shrugs. “Okay, you wanna talk before, then?”
Ilya sighs, tapping his finger against the box. Shane moves around the counter and pulls him firmly into his embrace, running his hands up under his husband’s shirt and smoothing them over his still muscular back.
“Whatever you want is okay, Ilyusha,” Shane says after some time.
