Summary
Three major things have changed.
One, no apocalypse for now. Two, they were flung back to the 1960s. And three, somehow Ben became more corporeal than a ghost should be.
Admittedly, the apocalypse is not a good time for some thorough exploration of what that truly implies - but the 1960s might as well be.Klaus wants to know how far exactly can Ben go.

“Last I checked, Clint Eastwood didn’t look like a hooker.”
There’s a small gasp from the tall woman as a hand flies over her mouth. The fair-skinned lady raises her eyebrows and the kid just peers at him (whether in malice or amusement, he’s not really sure). But the man who the insult was intended for just huffed a laugh.
“He wishes he had this body,” he flaunted, giving a shrug of his shoulders in faux humbleness. Then he tacked on with a yawn, “Prostitutes ruled the world in the Wild West; he could have got a lot more done if he knew how to shake it.”
“Klaus-!” the large man hissed as he frantically looked at Sir Reginald in apology.
One glowered. “So you admit that you look like a slut.”
The man, supposedly Klaus, smirks. “And you admit that you were checking it out.”
(OR the instance where Sparrow Academy's tough Number One has his world flipped by a strange man in a cowboy hat.)

Summary
The future to where they come back to is... different. The price they paid for a world without the Apocalypse is not obvious at first, but it soon becomes apparent that they had lost people and memories of a past that never was, and gained a whole array of different ones. But Klaus has to admit, this... internet thing, this is interesting.

The fire is so bright, so big, that Ben thinks he can feel it. He hasn’t felt anything in years beside anger and sadness and frustration but there’s something warm tickling his ghastly skin. He reaches out into it, hands slipping through it. Numb nothingness. Bare disappointment.

Ben scoffed, "Jealous? I'm not jealous. He can spend time with whoever he wants to... I'm just protective. I saw everything you guys put him through-"
"Protective? No, no, no. I'm protective: I make sure Klaus is safe and happy but you don't see me going all momma-bird on his ass and watching my own family like they're a bunch of untrustworthy heathens. You're just possessive," he said with a slightly condescending chuckle.
"Am not!"
"Are too."
Ben huffed. That was definitely a new term used to describe him.OR the one where Ben can't help but feel like that now that he's alive and his siblings are trying to establish better relationships with each other, he doesn't have 55% of Klaus's undivided attention. Diego says he's being a little possessive, but aren't all good brothers?

He didn't like thinking about that night or about the way he felt betrayed by Klaus. He didn't like blaming him but he also didn't like his own shame he felt about what had happened.
The sound of rain outside when one is alone can be a very lonely sound, isolating with it's power to make you feel just that more small and helpless.

Summary
Ben wasn't always given lessons on controlling his powers. Unlike like other siblings his power was supposed to have an uncontrollable element to it.
He walked around with a monster inside of him that had no moral compass. The way it killed was always done in a ruthless fashion. Many living creatures; human or other have met its wrath. Whether their deaths were deserving or not meant little to Ben. The guilt on his heart kept getting heavier and his siblings became more and more cautious around him.

Sarwa is ladling stew into bowls and she hands the first one to Yusuf, who passes it to Nicolo and takes a drink from the now filled flask. “Is he your lover?” she asks.
Yusuf chokes on water and Nicolo pounds his back, eyebrows peaked with concern.
“I—” Yusuf pauses, wiping his streaming eyes.
Sarwa looks at him, nothing but mild curiosity on her face.
Yusuf glances at Nicolo. The firelight paints his cheekbones flickering gold, his eyes hooded and sleepy in the dim light.
“I don’t know what he is,” Yusuf finally admits, still looking at Nicolo.
Nicolo’s mouth quirks and he takes another bite of soup.
“He looks at you like you belong to him,” Sarwa says.
Nicolo keeps eating, oblivious to what they’re saying.
“I think he belongs to me too,” Yusuf whispers.
