He pressed his back against the hard, concrete wall of the building just in time to blow out a thick grayish cloud of smoke. The nicotine took its melting course through his body, relaxing his nerves in a wave with each pull. He let his shoulders sag, just for a moment, as the chemicals worked their magic.
Though his tensions rushed back to life as the metal door just a few feet away swung open with a loud smack against the outside of the building. A man came into view. All hunched shoulders, and an average frame that screamed borderline sickly. Albert trailed him with his eyes, observant, but not obvious. Of course he knew this man. He knew everyone he worked with, as much as he needed to know them, William Birkin was a different case though. When the door swung closed behind him with a loud click, William finally noticed Albert. His brow had knitted into a confused expression as he measured out his steps to close the few feet between them under the overhang.
