The image of the mysterious man covered him like a second skin. He resembled a mist that lightly touched Will with his hand, leaving a cold trail on his shoulder along which warmth gradually spread: a small finger that could rest gracefully on paper, blurring the delicate strokes of a pencil on an undeniably perfect painting; the ring finger has no ring on it. An eternally lonely, closed, insanely intelligent, and talented man; the middle finger was longer than the rest - thin bones and slightly protruding joints could cut someone's life short; an index finger that would gently swipe over favourite canvas, hoping to imprint every brushstroke on fingertips, swallowing great art into his DNA, becoming it.
A thumb pressing on the trachea, squeezing the skin to a purple bruise, blocking the weak impulses of life.
Oh, Will would like to see every finger of that hand firsthand.
That's what he was afraid of.
AU from s1, in which Will knows Abigail even before he starts working on the Shrike case. At least he thought he knew her. As it turned out, no one knows anyone well enough to be sure of their innocence.

First, though, there's someone he has to talk to.----> Will follows after rejecting Hannibal, armed with some unexpected clarity from his father.
