Summary
He watches her now as he comes into their bedroom, seeking her succor after a long, harsh day. She’s sitting at her vanity, one of his favorite places to observe her. The mirror shows her image in triplicate. He likes to think, in his softest moments, that this mirror is a sort of altar, blessing him with the ability to see the goddess in triplicate. It is a strange thing he has found deep inside him, this desire to do her worship.
She has never looked anything less than holy.

“I don’t think I’ve ever met a drow properly before,” he says, relinquishing his hand and bowing with a flourish, “It’s a pleasure, Mr. Essek. I’m Molly, but I’m sure you’ve gathered that.”
“The pleasure is all mine,” Essek replies, falling back on his manners even if he’s sure he looks bewildered. Most people from this side of the Ashkeeper Peaks don’t smile like that at the prospect of meeting someone from his folk.

Summary
It starts like this: Essek, in a fit of lonely idiocy, agrees to partake in a honeypot scheme with the Mighty Nein. It goes about as smoothly as he should have expected.
It evolves to this: by decree of Deirta Thelyss, Verin is tasked with protecting his brother and his brother’s friends(??) as they parlay with the Children of Malice over the diplomatic incident they caused. Verin remembers his brother being much more of an aloof douche and much less of a floating disaster.
Or: In a reality where the Mighty Nein do a stop in Xhorhas prior to meeting up with DeRogna, Essek agrees to help with one side quest and ends up with a lover, a brother, and a fight with a god.
