Summary
A few months after what happened on the mountain, Jaskier sends Geralt a letter to apologize, to say he wishes they had been more honest with each other. Geralt replies, and thus starts the promise of a better friendship between them. But Nilfgaard marches on before Geralt can truly apologize, and he's trying to get Ciri to the safety of Kaer Morhen when he hears the news: Jaskier the bard died.

Jaskier and Geralt are in Oxenfurt in late summer; Jaskier decides that it’s the best time for them to go on a walk – there are so many places he wants to show to Geralt, and he quite enjoys spending time with him. Well, there still are dark clouds in the sky, but it won't rain, no matter what Geralt says.

Jaskier is in Oxenfurt after spending the winter there, waiting for Geralt to come in spring as they agreed. Unable to stay still, he decides to go for a walk. Surely a walk through the city won't hurt, right? And if he meets his best friend while he's out, well. Happy coincidences and all that.

Summary
Jaskier has always felt lonely – as the god of memories, he isn’t exactly useful to humans – or to anyone, really. Then one day he meets another lonely soul in a tavern in Posada, and thinks that he has found someone that will stay his friend.
Then, on the top of a mountain, his very best friend in the whole wide world tells him what he truly thinks of him, and – well. Jaskier's the god of memories, right? He can take himself off of Geralt’s hands – he can erase the witcher’s memories.
But Geralt keeps on hearing songs about himself, and a man he doesn’t know keeps on appearing to save him when he’s on the verge of dying – who is he? And what does he want?

Summary
For a second, Katara is helpless. No bending, no running, not when she’s trying to pull air into her lungs, feeling the world spin nauseatingly around her.
That’s all Zuko needs.
He pins her with a truly insulting ease, grabbing her wrists to hold both down, and she is well and truly caught. She glares up at him – he is soaked from the water she has been throwing at him, but his golden eyes are glaring right back at her, and there’s that sneering curl to his lip that makes her want to dump half the ocean on his head.
He leans down and she can feel the heat of his breath in her ear.
“Leaving so soon?” he hisses.

OR: Zuko captures Katara, and imprisons her on his ship to use as bait to try to capture Aang.
No plan truly survives contact with the enemy. And this plan… goes absolutely sideways.

Summary
Fire Lord Zuko is desperately trying, and continuously failing, to successfully propose to Ambassador Katara. She's oblivious; everyone else is entertained. Meanwhile, Zuko is giving weekly Sunday speeches to the Fire Nation in an effort to help his people feel closer to their government.
This effort was not supposed to include telling the entire Fire Nation about his plans for a future with Katara before even she knew about them. But it's fine! They promised not to tell!

“She's not my girlfriend!” Zuko says. And then, faced with June's judgmental gaze, he does what he does best: he panics and stops thinking. “She's my fiancée!”
Or: A moment of panic causes Zuko to lie. The temporary lie proves so useful that he starts lying more often. Somewhere along the way, Katara decides to play along.

Beyond the onslaught of comestibles are Ma and Pa Kent. They’re seated next to each other, which isn’t traditional, and also makes this feel even more like a job interview Bruce is failing. He thinks. He’s never actually had a job interview, never mind failed at one. That may be part of the problem.
“So,” he begins, a tentative foray into the awkward silence broken only by the sounds of Jonathan’s fork scraping mashed potatoes onto his plate. “How’s the, ah, harvest this year?”
“Bad,” Jonathan says, and does not elaborate.
