Summary
Kakashi is a case where the darkness doesn't scare, even though it's tries very hard. And Iruka always feels it, but at the same time understands that it can be tamed. But most importantly, he understands that he wants to tame it. And Kakashi kind of lets him. Just a little bit. Even if not all of it. And Iruka will wait as long as it takes. He's just afraid that it's not enough for Kakashi. That Kakashi wouldn't be waiting.

Summary
Kakashi Hatake was used to missions where everything was simple: a target, an order, an outcome. The shinobi Academy did not belong on that list. Iruka Umino was used to carrying the fragile, noisy world of children on his own shoulders and to not expecting help. A forced partnership. Reports, students’ tears, and far too much time spent side by side. Trust forms before either of them realizes it, and closeness becomes a threat that cannot be ignored. Summary
After the invasion and the death of the Sandaime, Iruka is left behind in Konoha to pick up the pieces as Naruto leaves for his special training. It's a lonely time, and it's a tough one. Everyone is struggling, from his littlest students to his shinobi friends, and Iruka is no different—the days pass in a haze of work, rebuilding, and comforting those around him.
Then something absurd happens. When an ANBU crawls through the window of Iruka's classroom after hours, half feral and positively begging to fuck him like a hound might beg for food scraps, Iruka surprises himself.
He says yes.
