    Holding back the fact that, yes, she was indeed in quite a lot of pain, Mary shook her head. “No, I am okay.” As Hayward’s hand grasped her boot she could not hide a grimace. “Well, maybe a little in pain. I slipped and found myself caught between these two rocks. Boulders really, volcanic-“

    “Miss Bennet,” the gentleman interrupted. “I am going to try to release you, if it hurts, please let me know.”
