Link wears a manic smile, bearing his blunt teeth in return to Sidon’s wicked grin. Every dodge, jump, and lunge causes his golden hair to flow about him, haloing him as if he were some divine fierce deity.

    Link was ethereal.

    And Sidon was captivated.

    Goosebumps prickle along Link’s skin. His senses go haywire, survival instincts triggered by an apparent threat. Something is watching him.

    Leaping back, he whips out a bow and arrow and aims it at the river, where the source of that omnipresent gaze feels strongest. There is a faint plink as something dips below the water and out of sight. For a moment he thinks he sees a faint outline of something large and red beneath the waves, but it lasts only a second, gone the next.

    Link’s eyes narrow.

    It’s that creature again.

    Something has followed Link home. It is a beast of unknown origin, appearance, and size, and for some reason it has taken an interest in him.
