Shane stands there quietly for a few moments, not wanting to burst this bubble. The past two nights with the Pike children have finally made him comprehend why Hayden was so pushy about him joining the parent club all those years ago. Shane didn’t understand it before, believing children, with their messy habits and chaotic energy, would never fit into his perfectly ordered life. But, seeing Ilya like this has set a million butterflies free in his stomach and now he gets it. He gets it a little too much because now all he can do is think of giving Ilya a baby.
