Vi is called to the guidance counselor to discuss her grades. She has mostly Bs, and an A in math but a D in English. Piltover Prep requires at least a C+ in order for her to stay on the boxing team. She signs up for tutoring and is randomly assigned to…Caitlyn Kirammen. Caitlyn, daughter of governor Kirammen. Despite her Moms status, Caitlyn has no friends, and always has her head buried in a book. You’d think with all that money and power she'd be swarmed with friends but she was always alone. Consensus is she's too good to hangout with the rest of the school population. Preferring the company of a book then dare to hangout out with one of us. Despite their rocky reputations, as they get to know each they become a pair of unlikely friends...maybe even more.

Summary
Caitlyn and Vi are two of the world's greatest figure skaters, and have a public rivalry that's spanned years. So it's a surprise to everyone when they begin to train under the same coach for the Olympic season, with Caitlyn seeking to defend her title, and Vi pursuing redemption.
Despite both their initial reservations, the forced time together makes their "rivalry" shift into something far different. And as the Olympics draw nearer, they start to grow much closer, and it spirals out of both of their control from there.

Alex shrugs again, but Vi's been Alex before. She knows what a quick glance up at her and then away means. Please don't make me beg if you're going to say no.
"I guess."
"I'll go talk to her," Vi says, helping Alex takes the gloves off. "You can keep the wraps. If you need to hit anything, that will make it better."
"Kay."
"Kay," Vi parrots back. Alex trails after her. "What's your foster mum called?"
Vi yanks the door open, ready for a fight with a snooty old woman. She stops so suddenly that Alex barrels into her back. Because sure, the woman in front of her is snooty as fuck, but heavens is she pretty.
"Caitlyn," Alex says as she opens her arms for a running Lavender. "Caitlyn Kiramman."

"You went outside," Caitlyn says. "How was it?"
How was it? How was the earth beneath her feet, the sky stretching out above her as far as she can see, the birds already out and about? The grass soft and wet, the flowers asleep but fragrant? The early morning sun still hidden behind the trees, a stray ray peeking out from between the leaves?
"Nice," Vi says. "It's cool out."
Caitlyn's eye lingers on her today as it always does. She steps closer, the face towel tossed aside. For a moment Vi thinks Caitlyn might kiss her, but a thumb darts out instead to the corner of her mouth, brushing away a stray crumb she must have missed.
