Summary
Price, Ghost, Soap, and Gaz all enlisted when they were practically kids and the military basically raised them as a result. They know how to dismantle a rifle blindfolded, patch a sucking chest wound, and conduct recon in hostile territory; but put them in a normal house, in a normal neighborhood, in a normal environment and suddenly it’s game over.
Because they’re bad at it. Really bad. By Day Three you have already decided that the four men across the street are either undercover agents, aliens trying out human cosplay, or the weirdest polycule of gay men on the eastern seaboard.
Because how the fuck do four fully grown men collectively fail to figure out how to operate a lawn mower or light a grill without a column of flame visible to the ISS?

“I have no fuckin’ clue what you two are on about,” Ghost stated tonelessly. “Fuck’s a Tim Allen?”
“You’ve never seen The Santa Clause?” Gaz asked, grasping at his chest in feigned shock.
“Seen ‘im? Just shot the guy.” Ghost wiped blood off on Soap’s shirt sleeve, making him swat at the hand. “Also, what about me made you think I watch a lot of Christmas movies? I need to correct that.”
“Ghost, you’d love it. Santa dies within, like, the first five minutes.”
“... Promising concept.”
A mission drags out and the 141 are stuck in the States for Christmas. Luckily, the Laswells welcome the extra company. While Soap misses his family, he doesn’t really mind spending the holiday with his second one.

Summary
After a mission gone wrong leaves Simon “Ghost” Riley deaf in one ear and Johnny “Soap” MacTavish with a permanent leg injury, both men are forced into early retirement. Soap uses his pension to buy a crumbling house on the edge of a quiet town, determined to make something of it, even if the place looks like it should’ve come with a tetanus shot.
Ghost shows up with a duffel bag and his usual scowl, moving into the guest room to help with renovations. Between faulty wiring, leaking pipes, and a fridge that seems to growl at two a.m., the two of them fall into a new rhythm of grocery runs, hardware store trips, and late-night fixes. The banter is sharp, the silences softer than either expected, and somewhere between the broken walls and peeling paint, they begin to rebuild more than just the house.
It’s a story about finding purpose when the battlefield is gone, about healing old wounds in the comfort of shared domestic chaos, and about realizing that sometimes “home” isn’t a place, it’s each other.

Ghost nodded almost imperceptibly, the shadow of a smile hidden beneath his mask. The mission had been routine—observe and extract. But in the middle of it, Ghost had subtly adjusted his glove twice and pulled at the edge of his neck gear, a signal meant only for his lovers: "I need you." Soap had returned the signal with a playful scratch of his chin, which to the uninitiated could’ve looked like nothing more than a face scratch, but to Ghost it was clear: "Not now, love. Patience." The recruits had been completely baffled, oblivious to the conversation happening around them. The four of them had barely been able to keep their composure, holding back laughter.
Soap leaned back further, his grin widening. “I reckon next time, we give ‘em something even more ridiculous. See if they start copying us.”

Brian spotted a Chevelle just up the block; normally he liked to pick up flashy imports, fast rice rockets for their getaways. However he was feeling nostalgic today for some reason, and not even the danger of being surrounded by thugs loaded up with heavy deadly machinery could distract him from his thoughts of the team, of Dom. It didn't hurt that the thing looked like it was built for speed, and right now the three men definitely needed speed.
