Johnny had enough going on. He had enough baggage without trying to teach someone how to carry any of it. He was too busy with his work.

Summary
The whales are there for only a few minutes, surfacing once more and then never coming back up as the light fades to an inky black night, nothing but the ship's lights creating a halo of visibility around them. Winter clouds above, there are no stars to differentiate the sky from the sea. It's a cold, unsettling feeling, and John’s hairs are rising on the back of his neck, Alice rolling over waves he can’t even see. A speck of life dropped off the end of the world.
“Entering the crab grounds now, boys. Everybody on deck to load those pots and drop ‘em down.”

An au posed by the simple question: What if you took the enduring love of John and Gale and combined it with the hit 2005 show Deadliest Catch. -

Summary
Cher, Snaf calls him all through the war, through mud and wet and blood and offal. Cher, Cher, Cher, every turn, every chance, and through the full spectrum of emotion a man might feel. Comedy, anger, fear, joy, affection, relief, warning. Fear. Whatever meaning it might have, Snafu gave it a million more, and by the end of it, Eugene responded to it as readily as he would his Christian name, Gene, or Sledge.

Summary
“Somebody piss in your Communion wine?”
“Jesus, John,” Gale breaks, frustration crackling into his voice.
John clicks his tongue at him, one eye squeezing shut and a finger coming up to aim a perfect shot between Gale’s eyes. “I came for Confession.”
“You pulled that one already, remember?”

Summary
John kills the engine and the lights and throws his arm up on the back of the bench seat, an open invitation Gale doesn’t accept just yet.
“This gonna be the kind of film I think it is, John?”
“Uh-huh. Double feature.” Gale shoots him a look that makes John raise his hands in surrender, though he keeps his elbow planted up on the back of the seat, hand just above Gale’s shoulder. “Hey, we can leave anytime you want, doll. Up to you.”
“We gonna have to be careful here?”
“No.”
Gale nods, takes another look at the scatterings of people already parked up and ready, at the people wandering around the lot between the cars, bending down to chat through open windows, heading up to the entrance to get snacks or heading back to their spots with their hands already full. It’s clear enough John means it — all Gale can see is trousers and jeans, men like them and men like the kind who always flock to John at their bar when they go, slim and soft-skinned with long, feathered hair and with that little sway in their hips like they’ve never had to worry about what that says to everyone around them, and every single one of them perfectly at ease.

Summary
John looked at him and said, “Hey, Buck. Tell me something.”
Gale, obliging because it cost him nothing, said, “Yeah? What do you wanna know?”
“Tell me the worst thing you ever did.”
“Bucky.” Gale was looking at him with attention now, trying to figure out his angle. “What?”
“Come on, Buck, gimme a baseline here. What’s the worst thing you ever did? You tell me and I’ll tell you.”
In a brief rush of careless honesty, Gale said, “Got bucked off a horse when I was a kid. Probably that."
“Yeah, that’s you, Buck! That’s you. Jesus, bud. Worst thing you ever did was fuckin’ fall down.”

Summary
"I think there's something wrong with me." It's a whisper dragged from Samira's lips, from the very depth of her.
"I think I might be a bad person." Chokes on it, on the pain, on the terrible truth, the indictment of her soul, of her morality, of her humanity. The evidence - plain and simple - that Samira Mohan was rotten to the core.

Summary
"I got a young kid here, decorated sniper in Iraq war. Army Ranger. I don’t know how many kills he had. Always looking to kill somebody else. Probably got PTSD. Probably an alcoholic. Not a matter of if that powder keg is gonna blow but when."
That powder keg blew when Colton Rhodes killed Mark; Tim just did a good job of hiding it for a while. Until one night, a cowboy walked into a bar, and found a fugitive sitting next to the Lexington office's favorite sniper.
Tim's not okay, and Raylan is apparently incapable of leaving it alone.Set between seasons 4 and 5, largely based in events of season 4.
