Summary
Ochako is a hero-in-training. She’s a UA student. She has a provisional hero license. She should not have sympathy for a villain.
But her sympathy is the only reason Himiko is alive at all—she already made her choice, and that choice was to save Himiko even at the risk of her own livelihood. It was a choice she swore she would make over and over again, going out of her way to leave vials of her blood for Himiko as she promised and waving aside questions of her whereabouts on her weekly trips to do so. She chooses Himiko over herself every day already.
She can’t lose her. It’s as simple as that, really.
Just as heroes don’t have anyone to save them, neither do villains. Ochako wants to be the sort of person who saves those no one else can—those no one else will. Full stop.
“Okay,” she agrees. “Fine. You can stay.”

“Repeat that. I dare you.” Bakugou set down the utensil he was holding and stalked around the counter, glaring at Mineta.
“Whoa, man, are you serious right now? All I did was voice my opinion, isn’t that-” Mineta never got to finish his sentence, as Bakugou was on him within an instant. He had a hand gripping his neck and he had been pinned to the ground. Bakugou had an insane look on his face, that infamous smile on his face as he squeezed at Mineta’s neck. “You ever say shit like that again and I’ll blow you up so badly no one will be able to recognize you. You got that?” He grumbled, his fingers crackling with small explosions as if it were a warning.
