All of Gina's irritation curdled into cold fear in an instant. She shot straight up in her bed, hoping to God that she'd somehow misheard.
Ms. Motley. Ms. Christine Motley, technically. Chrissie to her friends.
After all the months they'd spent trapped in the Circus together under Abel's tyrannical management, it was hard for Gina to think of her as anything other than Pomni.

Gangle and Zooble had immediately run off to who knows where when Caine announced the update had gone live. Pomni didn't know what Jax and Ragatha's reactions were—Jax had left the moment the AI said the word "sex" and Ragatha had left after the word "npc." She hadn't asked the next time she saw them because... quite honestly, she didn't want to know. Kinger had patiently listened to Caine explain the mechanics of it all and then politely declined—he didn't want to imagine being with anyone other than his wife, and that ship had already sailed years ago.
As for Pomni herself...
Well.
So far she was having problems.

Caine kept an eye on the Circus and its inhabitants, if not at all times, then certainly as much as he felt the need to. There were times where his attention had been called away and lead to him missing some things, but for the most part Caine preferred to know what his players were doing and saying so that he could best tend to their needs.
That being said... there was no worthwhile data to be gained from watching the Circus's newest member sleeping. Especially not every single night.

Maybe you should back up a bit, actually. But that would require getting into things that you don't really want to think about too hard, so you're not backing up shit.
The constant stuttering is loud in your ear compared to your own breathing and the soft, wet noises your tongue makes against his suit. You're not even sure if he's breathing between looping cries. You can't hear him pause to inhale, and when you look up, his chest isn't heaving.
You're not going to think about that too hard, either.

He's trembling. His whole body is trembling, the little glowing lines on his suit flickering rapidly between orange and pink-violet as he braces himself against the alley wall. The ever-present growling noise he'd made as he chased you keeps stuttering out and starting back up again, over and over, like he's panting for breath.
Honestly, it kind of grates on you. But so long as he doesn't start chasing you again, he can make whatever noises he damn well pleases.
You've been running for hours, ever since you found yourself in this weird ass cyberpunk dystopian city.

He was, regrettably, an absolute dreamboat; a leather-clad greaser with immaculately styled hair and visible muscles bulging under his jacket. Sharp jaw, high cheekbones, long eyelashes—he'd probably be dreamier if he didn't have a ghost's grey skin and red eyes. Or if she couldn't see the outline of the bookshelves through him. Or if she wasn't already completely fed up with him by this point in the day.

The groaning of the foundation sounded like the cries of the damned. The wind whistled through the broken glass in the window panes and it sounded like shrill screaming. Even the rattling of the overhead fan reminded Jason far too much of the sound of bones breaking under heavy pressure, a sound that he's intimately familiar with on both ends of the equation.
He's honestly this close to just fucking asking Artemis how to check if the place is haunted.
Which, you know, the moment that he catches himself muttering about maybe cutting his losses and ditching for a different unit is weirdly the exact moment when all the fucky sounds stop.
