Summary
As Pomni spends more time in the circus, her bonds with the others grow stronger. Everyone longs for connection, one way or another. But one thing that has not changed is Pomni's strong dislike for being touched. She won't ever voice it out loud, but everyone has known her long enough now to know it's definitely not at the top of her most-enjoyed things. Yet, Jax will still push it. Why? Because he himself hates touch as much as getting close enough to where people can see him for who he truly is. And it f[%$!#]s with him so badly to the point he's starting to doubt everything around him. A panic attack here and there isn't abnormal from him, in the privacy of his own room, of course. But, now they're occurring every night, and almost right in front of everyone. Jax has never felt this close to insanity, and it's scary to think that one more will be enough to push him to a place he cannot return.

There was silence. The only voice that constantly echoed in that room was Pomni's. Reading, chatting. Anything to help Jax feel less alone. Although, she didn't know if it was doing much good. The abstracted state he was in prevented him from letting her know. Was there any way to reverse it? If she hugged him again, would he finally be able to see him and do things right? Wouldn't she die trying?... Did she even care? And suddenly, just one action was enough to know which path she wanted to take.

When everyone escapes the circus, they have to learn to navigate 'normal life' again. A task that is not found simple by yourself. But who knows, the others may be closer than you think. If that's a good thing or not, is up to them to decide.
