Summary
Nature is cruel as it is beautiful. With the changing seasons, flowers bloom and decay. The sun rises and falls. New birds learn to fly and others... drop to the ground. It's simply how things go. The world can't stop to blink at the tragedy, to mourn the loss.
Phil though, he's never taken the cruelty without a second glance. Which is probably why he notices when the fallen bird isn't quite defeated yet.

He bit back a grimace at the bluntness of it. It was nothing he wouldn't expect from the emperor, there was just something jarring about hearing it without an underlying terror.
“I guess that's a start” he muttered “why’d he do that?”
“‘Dunno” the rabbit drawled, finally taking a bite of the carrot he grabbed for him “why would I care?”

Wilbur goes to his first charity ball and is tasked with making friends with the emperors son by his parents. Ever obedient, he does as told and ends up making a genuine friend that night. The only problem is that the prince is a tad possessive, deciding that he'd rather keep him than settle for something as silly as playdates. Why settle for a friend when he can have a brother, after all?
