Summary
“Hello,” Damianos says, voice gruff with sleep and the aftermath of panic. There is a smile playing around his lips, the barest hint of a dimple on one of his cheeks. He looks soft, sleep-mussed, and not at all alarmed.
It’s insulting.
With a single swift movement, Laurent draws his knife from the sheath at his thigh and presses the tip of it to Damianos’ bared throat—not drawing blood, but threatening it. He uses the flat of the blade to tilt his head up.
“Not another word,” Laurent whispers, leaning down so his words brush against Damianos’ lips. “And don’t even think about calling for the guards.”

Summary
Damen's back burns with an unrelenting fury. Blood drips to the floor and pools beneath his bare feet. He's slipped more times than he can count, his hip crashing again and again into the whipping post they've bound him to.
It'll stain, he thinks blearily through the haze. It'll soak so deep into the porous concrete that nothing will ever be able to get the discoloration out. The entire warehouse will need to be renovated to hide what happened here.

Summary
Merlin learns, quickly, that it's much less painful to shove the shame deep, deep down and do as Arthur says. When commanded, he lies down at Arthur's feet, barks when told to speak, pulls his hands up to his chest and begs, even, when Arthur taunts him with a treat.

Summary
"It brings me no joy to have to resort to such measures," Lord de Vere says. The wine has stained his mouth blood-red. He dabs at it with a napkin. "But the older my nephew grows, the harder it becomes to ignore his… affliction."
Damen hums in vague agreement. "You mentioned a curse in your letter."
The missive arrived not a fortnight ago at the inn he was staying at. The messenger held it in his hands with something not unlike reverence and seemed unwilling to part with the parchment as Damen went to take it from him. The elder de Vere, it would appear, is well-liked in these parts.
The same cannot be said for his nephew.
"I'm sure you're aware of the Curse of the Black Sun," Lord de Vere says, quietly. His eyes wander the room as though he's making sure no one is around to hear. "My nephew was born on that unfortunate night, twenty years past."

Summary
Buck probably thinks Eddie’s freezing up because he’s remembering the time before Buck, except he isn’t, because he can’t. Buck came along and redefined what it means to touch, to be touched.
And Eddie doesn’t know to explain that. He doesn’t know how to split the whole thing into parts.
How to say: I want you more than I have ever wanted anything. I want you close, and here, and always.
I don’t know how to let you take what I want you to have.
in which eddie can almost, almost let himself have everything with buck. it takes one google invite, one therapist, and a never-ending series of stops and starts to figure out why the almosts keep happening.
(a coda to tell me about despair.)

Summary
eddie's not entirely sure he believes in getting help, at least not for himself. there's only so much healing to be had for a body torn apart by bullets, for a mind that's only half there, for a man who's been leaving pieces of himself behind all his life with nothing to take their place.
except, as it turns out, falling apart happens in increments, and healing does, too: it happens when you gnaw a hole in your lip trying to keep quiet only to have the words escape; when you realize that the ghost you've been seeing out of the corner of your eye is yourself; when your best friend smiles, and you allow it to take your breath away.
it happens through the smallest of things: bird feeders, and cacti, and pasta shapes.
meanwhile, the world goes on.
(or: the entity often affectionately referred to as the unrepression fic.)

Summary
The picture on the back is a dark tree line contrasted by the wide blue sky above it. It’s faded, like it has taken one too many trips in the back of a mail truck, tattered and worn.
Eddie flips it over, the back scrawled with quick but somewhat neat handwriting. Scanning the words his eyes drop to the corner—the address.
‘Maddie Kendall, 1500 Hemlock Ave, Hershey, PA 17033’
Or,
An AU where Buck's postcards, which he sent to Maddie, were forwarded to Eddie on deployment by mistake. He becomes attached to the man behind the letters and his stories of his travels. Until, by a twist of fate, they bring him face to face with Buck himself.- Language:

Summary
Eddie roves his eyes over Buck's form. The paleness of his skin, the starkness of his veins under. The way Buck's clothes are starting to hang a little loose on him, the way he never changes where anyone can see him anymore.
Buck just sighs and looks away, breathing measured. It makes Eddie all the more certain that he’s doing the right thing; if Buck really was okay, he would have had the energy to fight back.
It breaks something in Eddie. Almost as quickly as it rose, his anger burns away, leaving behind only pain and fear. He can't lose Buck. He can't.
Buck would do anything to protect Eddie. Even if it means keeping the truth hidden — right to an early grave.
