The princess let out a harsh bark of a laugh. “Don’t tell me you’re going to spout some bullshit about me having a responsibility to my people,” they taunted. “I don’t even have the authority. My old hag saw to that.”
“Authority?” Izuku repeated, indignant. “Who needs authority when you’ve covered the nation in ice?”
The princess finally paused, sneer dropping, eyebrows pinched. “What.”

It's a classic plan -- if Sokka and Zuko aren't married by the time they both turn thirty, they'll marry each other. It's one of Sokka's best plans, even if it's only meant to be a back-up.
Most people don't spend their time making sure that the other person doesn't get married until the plan comes due, but most people are not Fire Lord Zuko.

[Sokka frowns. “I’m not having you go shocky mid-plan because we threw your flame-depressed ass or whatever you call it onto a steaming lake. You said there’s an easy way?”
Zuko’s mouth works silently for a few moments, searching, before he finally lets out a gusting sigh. “Yeah,” he says. “There’s, um—methods.”
“That you can do here?” Sokka presses.
“I…technically yes,” Zuko says, a bit of color maybe coming back to his face? Or at least the tip of his unscarred ear? “Technically you could do it anywhere, I guess, but…”]
OR,
Sokka is worried that Zuko needs to warm up after the cooler, or else he’ll get hypothermia.
Zuko knows one quick way to fire up an inner flame.
