His school is a slog, his job is a pit, his friends are all either homeless or turning into zombies, he’s in clubs between the most hopeless couple of losers the world has ever seen, his secret mythic Blood powers are only good for getting him spectacularly injured, there’s a shadowy organization trying to kidnap him, and now he’s falling in diamonds with a pokerfaced hipster showoff human who acts like he’s from another planet.

Jack has come home with a Mother's Day gift to blow all other thoughtful gestures out of the water. Too bad Jack and Maddie are not aware that a bouquet of Blood Blossoms can kill their son.
When Danny's only alternative is to out his ghost self and ruin his mother's gift in one fell swoop, Danny opts to bear the torment while he can. Blood Blossoms are notorious for dying quickly, and he intends to simply outlast them. Everything will be fine, surely, as long as Danny outlasts them.

Gaku Maruko is an ordinary teenage boy living in the Tokyo Residential Complex who has been left directionless with the start of summer vacation. With nothing to do except figure out how to grow into a somewhat self-respecting young man, he steals away the most popular guy he knows, Takumi Sumino, for a day full of assorted antics. In the midst of wasting away their lives, Gaku realizes something important about how he sees Takumi— and wishes he could put that realization right back where he found it.
In another life, that would've been it.
Gaku Maruko is a teenage soldier stationed at Last Defense Academy who just woke up from an invader-induced daydream having heavily repressed something important about how he sees Takumi. He has no way to put that realization back where he found it no matter how much force he crams it into the back of his head with. But war does not need tenderness, nor does it consider youth as more than a valuable asset. First he needs to fight, and then, uh, he'll unpack all that.
