Summary
Komaeda ignores the fire hitting his skin, scrambled towards his bedside. The fire was covering almost half of the inside, only the bathroom area seems to be untouched. He quickly moves and grabs anything he could find from the bedside table and underneath the bed.
Just a bit more. Let me save them, please.
The fire was burning his sleeve, and he could feel himself getting breathless each second. He could feel his arms suffering the burn, but he couldn’t afford to care.
The sting was getting more and more painful.
The roof was on verge of collapsing. Komaeda desperately collected the stuff into his shirt and carries them out, only to be stopped by the searing heat from the exit. He swiftly tried to control his breathing, careful to not inhale the smokes.
Just his luck, the ceiling above him made a cracking sound, before falling right above where he stands. Komaeda held in his breath, clutching his belongings close to him and shuts his eyes, preparing to feel the crash.
“NAGITO!!”

"What have you even been thinking about, locked-up in there for one month straight?"
Nagito shifted under the covers. "Do you know René Descartes?"
“I guess.” Hajime furrowed his brows. “Cogito ergo sum.”
“Yes, cogito ergo sum.” Nagito echoed, “It’s a philosophical concept he reached by locking himself up in a room away from all distractions from society. Traditions, customs, obscurantism. His goal was to start from zero. Rebuild his whole philosophy from what he knew to be real. That’s where his first conclusion came from. I think therefore I am.”
“So... you’re changing your philosophy, then? What’s your new take on hope and despair?”
“I don’t know, Hinata-kun...” Nagito smothered himself with his own pillow. “So far, I’ve just been sleeping.”
After the Neo World Program, Nagito Komaeda poses as a philosopher by drowning in guilt and painkillers and locking himself up in a room until everyone hopefully forgets about his miserable existence. Unfortunately for him, Hajime Hinata doesn't mind playing philosopher with him and clearly plans on doing something about his state.

Staying up late has its downsides when you're a kid, and Jabber heard all of the reasons he shouldn't have a messed up sleep schedule. But if he slept early he wouldn't have ever met a boy that lived across the world in a completely different country and culture. Online friends also had their downsides, but if Jabber never played video games he would have never met Zanka Nijiku.
