He would paint a scene with words, of how crimson blood stains the white canvas of the snow-covered gnoll. The eye is drawn to the stark contrast of the deep blues that yet adorn his body and the blinding white of the landscape.
A year has passed since the Final Days, and Aymeric de Borel's attention has shifted to the remnants of Thordan Loyalists. Though their numbers have dwindled in the wake of the Final Days, they yet persist, and their experiments in Azys Lla grow worse and worse. On one fateful night meant to route the enemy with finality, his troop is ambushed. Presumed to be dead, Ishgard must continue to function, as does one Estinien Varlineau.

“Ostentatious?”
“Ridiculous.”
“I didn’t. Not willingly. ‘Twas meant as a gift.”
They stare at it for a long, quiet moment, and Aymeric’s frown turns to a grimace. He drinks of his wine perhaps a touch longer than he means to and briefly considers throwing the rest of its contents onto the painting.
“You hate it.” Estinien is far too amused for his liking.
“It’s hideous.”
“Alright King Aymeric… what would you do differently?”

Summary
They began a dance. Perceptor would talk and that Protohexian accent would slip in, making each information dump near song-like. Ratchet realized the third time it happened that he didn’t even realize he was doing it, and then he realized he only ever did it when he was relaxed. Ratchet himself didn’t have much to say in response, letting the scientist fill in the spaces between conversation with that intense passion and curiosity.
Those bright optics would look at him, questing and interested, waiting for him to ask him to slow down or stop. Ratchet would just tilt his head slightly, and Perceptor would continue, more impassioned than before.
It was in between campaigns, when the fighting would lull and each side began to stockpile resources that the dance began to get dangerous.

Clobber bounces over to the bar, hopping onto the stool next to Dead End and staring at him with an optic just as wide as Hot Rod’s. “Dead End, you dated Percy?”
Dead End darts a quick, panicked look at Perceptor before remembering Perceptor can’t see. And that even if Perceptor could see, the chances of him jumping in to help Dead End discuss their romantic history would be astronomically low.
He ex-vents. “Yeah.”
Or: Dead End and Perceptor, throughout the finite days of their relationship, sixty-five million cycles of war, the Quintesson invasion of Cybertron, and beyond.

Summary
The Lost Light is a ship full of people with intense and complicated issues. Lead mechanic Nautica and science officer Brainstorm are not exempt from this, far from it in fact.
One, Caminus' premiere societal disappointment. The other, an MTO with little to no self worth. Together, they grow closer through their mutual struggles, and strive to be more than just a couple of losers floating around in space. Only time will tell if that works out for either of them.
