Summary
After his confrontation with the Red Death, Hiccup has more to reckon with than he could’ve imagined. Sure, Berk having dragons was one thing, but his life turns upside down when he discovers a newly regenerated draconic limb, eerily reminiscent of his favorite Night Fury. Summary
The morning dawns and when it does, Toothless realizes he has a problem. Overnight, the fresh new fin Hiccup made for him has frozen together in the closed position.
He tries to open his tail, but he can’t, the little yellow teeth on the edge of it keeping him from moving.
He swings his head around, looking for Hiccup, because things like this have happened before, and Hiccup can always fix it, before he remembers that Hiccup is not here.
Toothless left him behind.
Toothless is alone.

Summary
Soulmarks amongst humans are easily identifiable: they are words tattooed on skin, words to be spoken during the first moment where two people truly connect. No one believes dragons have soulmarks, let alone that a dragon and a human can share a soul bond.
