Summary
Once the order is in and the stack of eight coffees is secured in the cart she had brought just for the occasion (she learned long ago to not trust herself with carrying that much liquid with her bare hands), Eloise grabs the two remaining coffees - one for herself and one for her demonic boss (she can only imagine his horror if his coffee dared to touch anybody else’s) - before turning.

Summary
“I believe I have found a solution to my problem. Well, Francesca’s problem.”
Cressida does not point out that it is now nearly ten in the morning; well before calling hours. Eloise knows that, and, more importantly, Cressida is certain that she does not care.
“What is the solution?”
“John has a cousin. Michaela. She is lovely; she was also at Kilmartin Castle with us. She returned to London this past autumn and she and Francesca became close.”
“Yes, I have met her.” Truthfully, she found Michaela Stirling — the new Countess of Kilmartin — to be engaging — and beautiful, but that is neither here nor there.
“Well,” Eloise says, “perhaps if Francesca will not accept our comfort — that is to say, our family’s comfort — she may accept Michaela’s.”

Summary
No matter how excited either of them might be, she knew there would be no tolerance for her breaking their protocol, under any circumstances.
“I’m sorry, but I haven’t ordered room service.” Cressida called out with the appropriate amount of hesitation, her voice remained flat in spite of the small smile spreading across her face for what felt like the first time in a very long time.
At least since the last time they’d been together, hidden away into another one of their moments pulled out of time. Lost in something that existed just for them, while the rest of their lives belonged to their work, this could be theirs.
There was a small pause, then just as it was supposed to, the only voice she ever wanted to hear in her ear replied, “Compliments of the house miss, champagne.”
