Week 2 Challenge Prompt: Shane comes out to Montreal Team.
_________Shane comes out to Montreal during training camp after the summer at The Cottage. He does it before practice thinking he can just say it and it will be over. Rip off the band-aid. Private life is private no big deal.
Unfortunately for Shane, he doesn't know he's autistic and the "panic attacks" he thought he had under control were really autistic meltdowns from an overwhelmed nervous system.
When the tension in the locker room & practice creates a cascading effect in Shane's mind he experiences one of the worst episodes since childhood.

Ilya has watched the damage—Hayden sobbing in the kitchen and Yuna going quiet over the birthday cake. He thought he understood what he was in for.

Shane lifts one eyelid again to look at Rozanov. His eyes are red-rimmed. Like he’s been crying. “Why…why aren’t you in Boston?”
Rozanov’s brow furrows. “Why would I be in Boston?”
“You, you’re captain. Raiders. Boston.”
The room is silent except for the beeping of monitors.
In 2023, Shane takes a bad hit on the ice. When he wakes up, the last thing he remembers is a tuna melt.
There’s a lot to get used to.

Summary
After coming out to Rose, Shane decides he doesn't want to lie anymore, even if he isn't sure coming out will mean he gets happily ever after with Ilya. When coming out to the Voyageurs leaves him wondering what his future in Montreal might look like, he lets himself be a little selfish, he lets himself wonder if there might be somewhere else he might be happy. If Montreal wants to get rid of a generational player, he's not about to stop them, especially if it means he can get a little closer to joy.

New York, March, 2017: Scott Hunter is forced to realize he is incredibly fond of Ilya Rozanov, and knowing what he does, Shane Hollander is on really fucking thin ice.
