After the Tournament of Elements, Kai wakes up beneath an unfamiliar sun, surrounded by unfamiliar faces, with absolutely no idea where he is or how he got there. Found by a certain uncle-nephew duo, Kai learns all the right things, all in the wrong order. There's an ancient warrior travelling the Dirt Empire, age old enemy of the Fire Nation, and he's back after a hundred years. Fine. Sure. Whatever.
Wait, he wants to control all the elements?? And it's just this one teenager trying to stop him???
Or: Kai and Zuko briefly become a discount Team Rocket, make it everyone else's problem, then maybe sort of kinda change their worldview.

Summary
The ninja and Lord Garmadon have a fierce distaste towards each other. Time and time again they have crossed paths with the warlord, yet every time nothing between them has been resolved. That is, until one night Zane goes missing. Soon after, the ninja receive a mysterious invitation to compete in a tournament on a remote island with other elemental wielders much like themselves. Although, they come to find much more than they bargained for the moment they step onto the ferry boat.
Meanwhile, Lloyd Garmadon plots the downfall of elemental masters with his foster sister, Skylor. After being abandoned by the people who were supposed to love and care for him, Lloyd couldn’t care less about the man whose name he carries. All he knows is that things start changing once he meets the ninja, and he soon finds himself lost in the spiraling confusion and corruption of his destiny.
Or: Lloyd gets adopted into the Chen family and manipulated into hating his father and siding with the anacondrai to take over Ninjago. The ninja are confused and Garmadon isn’t happy.

Cole wiped the cut again, quickly bringing him back to reality. His head threatened to move, but Cole’s firm hold grew stronger - not too strong to hurt him - but enough to keep him still and reassured. Why was he being so nice?
