"Does it hurt you to think of him hurting your country?" he asked, and he told himself that he was pleased, that he wanted Damen hurt. That is eased his own pain if Damen, too, were forced to suffer.
"You know it does," Damianos answered. He paced like a caged animal, like one of Halvik's chained leopards, full of restrained violence, yet he came no closer. "Are we playing now with the fate of nations?" he demanded. "It won't bring your brother back."
With the Regent in Ios and his Akielon's identity revealed, the war for the throne of Vere is gaining heat. Brilliant Brilliant Brillliant. This whole series is brilliant. A retelling of the Captive prince trilogy from Laurents perspective. With so much added depth!!!! All the scenes we could have wanted that weren't in the original books!!
