Summary
Verso has decided the fate of the Canvas and won the duel against Maelle. But for Lune, the fight isn't over.
------
This is just a short piece of the Verso ending from Lune's POV. I needed a way to cope with my own grief, and this is what I've come up with. Lune's reaction to this ending gutted me in a way no other character's did and I felt like she as a character needed her own unique way to process everything that went on as it ended. Consider this my love letter to all these characters, even if they're barely mentioned like Maelle. I adore them and this game to pieces.

Summary
"Who are you? What's with the uniform?" He asked, and Lune met his eyes.
"I, too, am an Expeditioner," she said slowly, repeating the words decades before Verso would say them to her.Or
When the battle with the Paintress goes terribly wrong, help comes from the least likely source: the Masked Woman. Lune is cast back to the beginning to find the truth about the Fracture - and hopefully stop the Paintress and her yearly ritual of death. This puts Lune on a collision course with Verso and his family, before they were cursed with immortality. But the Dessendres have their own secrets, and unraveling them could cost Lune dearly - not just the success and safety of the future, but her own heart as well.
Mostly canon through Act II.
There's only one Paintress.
The world is real (not a canvas).
Everyone is real.

Summary
"Are the voices inside your head still yours, Lune?"
She cut him a withering glare, dozens of truths and memorized speeches caught in her throat. He met her gaze dead on, irises near colorless where they once held a hint of blue. He didn't look away, and neither could she.
"Are yours?"
---
Nearly three years after saving the Canvas, Lune is restless. She's uncovered every mystery, solved every problem, and reached the limit of what the world can give her. Never before has she felt the world so small. The only remaining questions all circle back to the man she refuses to see, and who has isolated himself from everyone else. But when a dangerous new Nevron threatens the city and Maelle disappears, Lune has no choice but to go to him for answers.
Verso wants nothing more than to die. He'll settle for destroying any sliver of love between himself and those he called friend. But when Lune brings word of Maelle's disappearance and a Nevron he's never heard of, even he can't ignore the opportunity.
Once bound by respect and something deeper, Lune and Verso have nothing but distrust and loathing between them. They'll need more than that to save Maelle from the Nevron--and herself.

Summary
It’s been a year since their fight with Renoir, yet to Lune, it remained an inescapable dream, a nightmare haunting her mind, playing on a loop again and again.
When she would open her eyes in the morning, dazed with sleep, she could still feel the sticky mixture of sweat and blood all over her body.
When she would shower, she still felt the phantom pain radiating out of every wound and scratch, the exhaustion of her muscles settling in, as Maelle exchanged final words with Renoir. She felt the adrenaline slowly leaving her body as they watched the petals flying from Renoir’s disintegrating form.
The sensations of her body from that day have permanently edged their way into her memory. But that was the easy part of it. Easy to push out of her thoughts with a good enough distraction, almost manageable when hidden under piles and piles of work, steps of routine, half-hearted conversations. The hard part was what happened after.
***
Exploration of what mental state Verso and Lune would find themselves in post-Maelle ending, and trying to answer the question of how to heal from everything that has happened.Bookmarked by UnforgettablePixel
