“No.” Katara bit back. “The Water Tribes worship the Moon Spirit. The other nations worship the moon, but only the Water Tribes worship the Moon Spirit. We’re the only ones she listens to.”
“We are very important to the Moon Spirit!” Jet barked. “And she listens to us.”
Katara cackled. “You expect me to believe that the Moon Spirit listens to three random-ass men from outside the Water Tribes. You know, I’ve been through a lot in this past year, but that's the most unbelievable thing someone's told me.”
Jet got close to Katara’s face. “The Moon Spirit visits us every full moon. She gives us a mission, and if we complete it, she rewards us. Has the Moon Spirit ever visited you? You think she has, but you don't even know what she looks like, what she tastes like-” Aang grabbed Jet by the collar and pulled him away from Katara.

Katara is the daughter of Chief Hakoda, princess of the South Pole—or what remains of it—and as the last hope for forging an alliance against the Fire Nation while the Avatar learns to master the four elements, she agrees to a union with the fallen King Kuei of the Earth Kingdom. But on the journey to her wedding, the Fire Nation intercepts her, and she falls into the hands of the Fire Lord’s sons.
