“Are you gonna be a menace when we’re recording today, then?” he asks when Dan offers absolutely no help in making breakfast either. It might as well be rhetorical; Phil already knows the answer. Knows Dan’s going to see exactly how much he can get away with.
Dan pouts a little. “Oi! I can be good.”
“You will be,” Phil says calmly, and bites back a grin at the way Dan’s breath hitches. He’s so transparent, so awfully easy to read, his Dan. Phil loves him terribly.
(or: dan is a menace. phil knows exactly how to deal with him.)

Phil stays quiet, his lips pressed together, until they’re all sat in their living room, Dan next to Phil on the sofa with far more space between them than they usually have, looking around helplessly.
“Just what exactly do you remember?” he asks Dan.
“Uh,” makes Dan. “I know my name is Dan. They told me.”
Dan has a ski accident and loses his memory. Phil can't do anything but offer him a home - Dan finds that said home is quite obscure.
