So maybe he had been getting headaches and nosebleeds a little more frequently then usual but that wasn’t really an issue, what with having had three concussions over the past few years. Headaches and bloody noses just weren’t really that big of a deal to him.
And so what if the increase in nightmares that he had, had that week were leaving him more sleep deprived than usual. It was probably just stress. Max being cursed, Chrissy, Fred and Patrick’s murders, Jason, all of those things would cause extra stress.
And maybe if he had actually gotten more then three hours of broken up sleep a night he would have dealt with this better.

“Steve?” Dustin about shoved past them both, the way he shook the man far more aggressive than Max’s, though still he showed no reaction to it, body stiff and eyes rolled back till it was almost all white showing. “Steve? Steve come on this isn’t– this isn’t funny! Steve!”

The world feels like it’s tilting. Is it tilting? Steve isn’t actually in the world right now, so maybe this one is different. Maybe it tilts. The burning sensation from where the bats took a chunk out of him is flooding his body, his lungs are burning, his face, his—his eyes are burning, and his face is wet.
“Nance! Nance—Guys, find a radio or something, Robin, she likes—!”
Steve looks up. Robin isn’t moving.
“Robin?”
She’s looking straight at him, but her eyes are wrong. They’re wrong. Her eyelids flutter, the rest of her body unnaturally still, and the burning is everywhere now, the world is spinning, and Dustin is right next to her, and Steve blinks and so are Max and Lucas. So is Eddie. All standing in place, their eyes…
“Oh,” Steve whispers.
