The hotel room—the one she’d be sharing, for fuck’s sake—was a suite nearly as large as the main room downstairs. Comfortably furnished, painted in bright Pentoshi colours, wooden floors hosting woven rugs. Two plush couches sat in the middle, separated by a dark table with a glass top that held a tray of cups and a glass decanter of what looked to be whisky. Behind one was a large white door leading to an impressive veranda, which looked out to an endless stretch of writhing ocean. She thanked the gods that there were two beds, and that they sat in separate rooms and could be swiftly cut off by a closed door. She chose the one clearly not occupied, unpacked, ordered room service—a small meal of roasted potatoes on a bed of steamed rice, with a cup of chilled wine—and spent the next half hour beneath the shower’s rain, washing away the eight hour flight, but not all the jet lag.
If she went straight to bed at five o’clock Pentoshi time and threw a middle finger toward the door separating her bedroom from Rhaenyra’s, no she didn’t.OR
