Summary
“He’s just your intern? Why is he allowed on these floors?” Sam questioned.
“Well he is allowed near all my equipment and stuff. He’s helped build a lot of my recent stuff for the team,” Tony half-explained.
Okay. So they weren’t telling them about Spider-Man. Natasha smiled when he looked at her, looked like they had a silent understanding then.
Apparently Steve, who looked as disinterested as ever, wasn’t apart of this.
OR;The Avengers are back in town! And Peter has the embarrassing pleasure of spending a weekend secretly in their tower.

Summary
Peter learned a long time ago that he wasn’t going to be adopted.
He learned it when May and Ben sat him down and explained that they were just his uncle and aunt and he couldn’t call them his parents at school anymore. He learned it after the third family left the group home without him. He learned it after he was rejected time and time again for showing up with bruised cheeks and secret wounds that told people that he was a fighter and he could never say he was a crime fighter.
Peter Parker doesn’t need to be adopted. He has accepted that by now. He’s sixteen years old and knows that he only has two more years before he can be on his own. He’s looking forward to getting out of the system. He’s looking forward to being independent.

Summary
“You’d do something for me if it helped me, right Peter?” May finally asks, her voice dull.
Peter looks at his aunt, slipping his phone into his hoodie pocket on the floor and forcing himself to smile. “As long as it’s not illegal, yeah.”
May’s lips curl faintly. They lapse back into silence. Another half hour goes by before they stop for dinner. May looks at him over her fries. “Do you think you could live somewhere other than the city?”
Peter frowns. “I don’t know.” He thinks of the lake house tucked back in the woods. “I think that maybe I could. It would be weird at first but I don’t think it would be bad. Didn’t you grow up a couple hours from the city?”
May nods. “Yeah, I grew up closer to Buffalo. We lived in the middle of nowhere. I met your Uncle Ben in college and followed him to the city.” She doesn’t meet his eyes. “I think you’d like living outside the city.”
She doesn’t speak for the rest of the meal.
