Summary
Hizashi Yamada’s parents have been presenting him with potential arranged marriage candidates since he turned 18. At age 20, he finally gets fed up and tells them he’s gay, even though he isn’t, in an attempt to get them to stop bringing it up. What he doesn’t expect is that his parents now attempt to set him up with a guy instead.
Shouta Aizawa’s parents have never particularly cared about his wants if it benefitted their business. So when they tell him he’s to be married to the son of the Yamada’s, he doesn’t argue.

The humans are reasonably upset after Caine’s latest adventure, but when Pomni realizes that the AI has been suffering more than any of them could imagine, it becomes their mission to help him and make the circus a better place for everyone.

"Yes." Avery answers with no hesitation.
"You won't leave?"
"No."
Derek's expression softens. Avery could see it in his eyes behind the shadow of his gold helmet.
Then, without warning, Derek steps forward and pulls Avery into a hug.
Avery stiffens instantly at the sudden contact, his cheek brushing gently against the cold surface of Derek's armor. His hands awkwardly remained on his sides— clueless on where to put them. He couldn't exactly relax under his embrace. Not when he didn't know what this hug actually meant.
"What's in your inventory?" Derek asks.
Avery is taken aback once more. "What?"
"What's in your inventory?"
And that's all it takes. A moment of distraction— and a decisive motion as he shoved Avery backward.
From then, Avery's cry echoed. "Wait!"
That was all that Derek remembered before everything went black. Or at least, that was the only part that truly mattered.
Or
Derek survives but now has to live with an ancient god within him.
It goes precisely the way it shouldn't.

“His boyfriend?” The paramedic asks, a glint in his eye telling Avery that he understands the situation and that he’ll cover for the lie. Avery nods, swallowing hard, and enters the ambulance.

After the events of DAWTDE, Avery finally finds Derek alive. The King is gone, and for the first time, Avery thinks he and Derek may rest. But between fragile smiles and blushes, it becomes clear one does not need to exist in order to haunt the narrative.
