"He'd have to be desperate, or an idiot, to try and befriend a mage," Jowan said severely.
"Nonsense," Alim retorted, "You're just perpetually doom and gloom about everything, Jowls. Listen. Lowen. This could be good for you! Butter him up. Flirt! See what happens! What's the harm? Worst case, he rebuffs you and you're embarrassed—"
"No," Jowan interrupted, "Worst case is he uses you and then reports you to Irving—"
"Oh, hush up you!"
"Mark my words," Jowan cautioned, "It's never a good thing when you catch a Templar's eye. No matter how nice they might seem."
"That seems simplistic of both of you. It can't be as straightforward as we either live happily ever after or he runs me through." Lowen pointed out.
"Come on," Jowan hissed, "Have you ever heard of a relationship between a mage and a Templar that ended well?"
