Claudine does not want to tip beyond whatever threshold of comfort Maya may have, but a part of her is also tremendously greedy. She is greedy for this woman beside her, who she has loved dearly for far longer than just the five years they have been dating. She is greedy for this affection that has been bottled up and stored away on a shelf, out of reach but always within her sight. She is greedy to give Maya her love.
Maya and Claudine have been dating for five years. At least, until an accident causes Maya to lose her memory. Claudine must relearn to live with her while Maya hardly knows herself.

Summary
The only thing Maya cares about in that moment is keeping Claudine alive. Claudine can see it; she can read it, in the grip on her hands, both tender and strong, and in the way Maya's eyes dart about her face, as though trying to etch the image of Claudine in her mind before it's too late.
Saijou Claudine joins the Ylissean Army under the leadership of Exalt Tendo Maya. The world is encroaching its end day by day, but Claudine finds more of a reason to live the closer she becomes to the Exalt.

Summary
Her arms close around Claudine's back, fingertips digging into her shoulder blades as though in an attempt to mold and mesh their flesh together. Maya may be a hair taller than Claudine, but she is the one to find solace in the crook of Claudine's neck. The depth of the hug screams for something more, in the way Maya holds her, presses into her, and Claudine cannot bear to be the one to break their embrace.
Maya and Claudine are separated following their graduation from Seisho, but this is not the end of their relationship. (Or, snip-bits of Maya and Claudine working through a long-distance relationship with an eight-hour time difference.)

Summary
For a brief moment, Claudine forgets the thin tightrope they walk, that which provides no guarantee of food and water, shelter and warmth. She had forgotten the self-inflicted need for companionship and revels in that playful glint to Maya's eyes.
They've barely scraped through a month of traveling together, but that maw of loneliness has gradually closed itself up. Days are no longer spent traversing lands in solitude, but are instead filled with talk and banter, discussion and planning.
It's a better existence than the one Claudine had been living the last three years.
The world is a desolate place ravaged by sand. Humans fear one another and do not revel in companionship. Claudine and Maya meet and decide not to kill each other.
