    Summary

Title to Change because the joke doesn't make sense yet. Open to suggestions.

Nikki Bobbins is a definitely normal human from this version of earth just doing a completely normal geological survey while her two younger teen siblings are using their sister's work as an excuse to vacation. Nikki, Marcus, and Millie are exploring a strange cave with beautiful giant blue crystals when they run into three kids who look surprised to find other people out touching grass. Then they run into a bunch of giant alien robots. Then more robots show up and there's a bunch of shooting. Someone must be a terrible shot because apparently the crystals are explosive. The last thing Nikki thinks before she blacks out from the pain of what feels like knives erupting from her skin is that this assignment was supposed to be boring. They weren't supposed to get involved. Involvement means disruptions. Disruptions in what is "meant to happen" are dangerous.

Just a human to transformers story. Three original human characters get involved with the Autobot/Decepticon war. There's nothing weird going on. Promise. They wake up as Cybertronians. But besides that, nothing weird.

“You don’t get to decide my fate. You don’t get to decide I’m done. If I stopped every time something bigger than me said ‘enough’, I wouldn’t have lasted three wars. You’re not my god, and even if you were, I wouldn’t listen to you.”

Primus was all knowing maybe, but just like he said, he wasn’t all powerful. Primus couldn’t send him back. But Sam could.

Worst case scenario, he evaporates into nothingness, but at least that would be better than spending an eternity here, watching everyone he loves die, watching as another version of himself enjoys everything he had been fighting for.

Was it dramatic? Probably. But Sam was young, he was meant to be dramatic. And for his family, he’s done crazier things.

Or: Sam gets transported to the Transformers Prime universe and ends up messing up fate's plans for its inhabitants, for the better, or for the worse.

    Summary

It turns out that being wired into giant war machines doesn’t play nice with human brains. The Earth Mechanical Defense Force, or EMDF, learned that the hard way when their pilots started going… neurotic, let’s say, after a few missions.

The obvious solution to that problem was to simply wire the pilot into their mecha permanently, that way their mind wasn’t being strained by the constant in and out. Unfortunately that strategy backfired and the pilots started going neurotic much, much faster, and this time they were giant and made of metal and much harder to put down.

So, the obvious next step would be to pull the plug on that idea and go back to the drawing board, right? No, that’s ridiculous, the next step was obviously to simply…

Make the mecha forget they’d ever been human in the first place.

Somewhere along the line someone should have pulled the plug, but they’d already invested so much into the project, and you know what they say about sunk cost fallacy.
