Summary
This story spans seasons 4-7, show canon. Since as far as the show goes, as far as I can recall we have never seen Jamie and Claire discuss Geneva, in contrast to book canon where Claire learns about her from Lord John during “Voyager” as well as from Jamie. In any case, I wanted them to talk about it in the episode where John gets measles so I wrote my own version for showverse. I couldn’t write a post episode for 7x12, “Carnal Knowledge” without going back in time to earlier seasons. And I’m obsessed with the show’s stables scene in “Better to Marry Than Burn” even though I prefer the book version.
Jamie is guilt ridden. He also gets ridden. Claire and Jamie get back on the horse, as it were, in the aftermath of his return from the dead in Philadelphia.
Title is taken from “Kings and Queens” by Ava Max, the only song with feminist chess metaphors I know.

This little stand-alone fic is a missing scene from Outlander book 1, set in Leoch after Jamie and Claire were married. It's my explanation as to why Laoghaire left the ill wish beneath Claire's pillow. Warning: It has approximately no redeeming value, and is purely an excuse to write Drunk Claire, Horny Jamie, and smut. Plus bonus Jealous Laoghaire.
