“I… think you’re in heat,” Chris manages to get out through a dry mouth. Can hardly believe the words he’s saying himself, but the moment they penetrate the haze shrouding Ethan’s awareness, he rolls his head off the table and scowls.
“What?” he balks. His tail stops wagging, and for a moment the grip on his wrist goes limp.

His grip on Ethan's neck is loosened, the blonde takes a deep breath and tells Chris what he wants to hear. "I– Ah, uh.– I love you too."
There's no real meaning behind those words, Chris knows it yet his subconscious does incredible gymnastics to get him to believe them. He's happy with this, he can lie to himself all he wants.

With Ethan sprawled like this, Chris can see the mess he’s made of his shoulder; the dents where his teeth had been, the smear of blood from where he’d cut him. It’s bruising already, and by this time tomorrow it’ll be fucking spectacular - anybody who looks at it will know exactly what it is, and what Ethan was doing when it happened.
They’ll look at it, and know that, even if only for a while, he was Chris’s.
