Colt sat up, drawing his knees close to his chest and resting his head on top of them. “I got off the plane,” he recounted. “Jody, Dan, and I went to get coffee and- and I looked up at the TV and they-” he looked up, barely able to make out Ryland’s silhouette in the mess of tears welling up in his eyes- “they said you died, Ryland.”
He nodded. “I did.”
“Why’d you have to die?”
“I don’t know.”
No one prepares you to lose your twin brother. No one prepares you to lose all you had left. But can you trust people who aren't obligated by blood to be there for you? Can you even trust the ones that are?
