Dunk stands. He walks, he carefully, slowly walks. His feet meet soft, cold carpet and there are beads if sweat running down his brows, dropping off his chin.

Dunk comes to stand in front of the cradle. He hesitates.
Watch them. Watch and see them, ser.
Dunk follows the Targaryens to Summerhall.
And he finds more than just the metaphorical dragons.As new eyes open, it brings about a change that is both hoped and dreaded in equal measure, but more importantly, like a new verse added to the old song, it is something needed by the House of the Dragon.

Prince Aerion’s voice quietened to something more serious, and all sense of amusement drained from his face as fast as one blows out a candle.
“Take them off.”A beat passed.
“W-what?” the hedge knight spluttered in disbelief, voice hoarse. He raked his gaze across the whole expanse of Aerion’s face, hoping to find even a sign that the other was joking with him.
“Your trousers. They’re wet.” The prince clicked his tongue. “Take them off.” He finished his sentence with a perfect smile. One that probably would have been charming if Dunk had not an inkling as to his vile personality.
Dunk blanched, lips parting in shock as he realised what the other man had just commanded him to do. He floundered for a few moments, not knowing how to react.By the luck of the gods Dunk was spared from death.
Now, the man is indebted to Prince Aerion, and must be ready to answer to the other's every beck and call.

Duncan's fate changes the moment it's revealed he's an omega. There's no Trial of Seven, but there is punishment.
"No one will see this as a reward, I'm afraid. My brother's offspring have already given enough to talk about. They'll surely think this is a punishment akin to the Trial of the Seven my nephew wanted to impose. But I believe that by being a good man, you'll do well. This family needs more good men."
At Prince Baelor's suggestion, Duncan marries Prince Maekar to right the wrong.
(If only Maekar showed as much interest in the omega as everyone else does, it would be simpler.)

Waking up after the events of the trial, Ser Duncan the Tall is more confused than ever. Prince Baelor is completely uninjured and nobody seems to remember what has happened but him.
Nor does it explain the reaction upon the discovery of Dunk wounded within Ashford castle, mistaken for a mistreated servant of the household. The dragon princes of the realm do not seem to appreciate such treatment and immediately take Dunk under their wing, much to the hedge knight’s bewilderment.

Dragons hadn't been seen in exactly 56 years, not since The Last died the year his father was born. Baelor re-read the letter in his hand. It had been written in a rush, he could tell, his father's usual careful lettering messy and ink blots staining the paper.
Apparently a dragon had been seen, flying across the Narrow Sea from Myr, crossing over the Stormlands and seemed to be on course for. Well. Them. Here, in the Reach, in some nowhere castle in some nowhere meadow, as his brother Maekar so lovingly put it.
If finding a rare Omega in the middle of nowhere wasn't enough to catch Baelor's attention, then surely a giant fire breathing dragon landing in the middle of the meadow would be.
