    “I just barely got Cerebus trained to be vicious again." Wade protested. "You’re going to ruin them!”

    “Oh no, not a vicious Cerebus!” Peter gasped in mock horror, then tipped his head back and whistled, and in the distance, Cerebus answered with an excited howl.

    “And um, if you’re going to stay, you’ll need a throne.” Wade said next and Peter’s eyes crinkled when he grinned. “Unfortunately there isn’t room for a second one in here so…”

    “So, I suppose I’ll have to sit on your lap.” Peter said solemnly. “Any other complaints, oh guardian of the Underworld?”

    “I thought I’d lost you.” Wade’s voice cracked then and Peter magicked a pomegranate blossom out of thin air and into his palm, dusting the petals over Wade’s lips.

    “Never, my love. Never.”

    When mer!Peter rescues Prince!Wade from a shipwreck, they are irreversibly bound as soulmates. But humans and mers aren't meant to be together, so after one day together Peter leaves Wade on the beach, and returns to the sea alone.

    Wade can't forget his mer, not the gold in Peter's eyes or their heated kisses, and he goes mad from the memories. His search for a way back to the sea leads him to Shiklah, and Wade is desperate enough to bargain with the witch-- his beauty and charm for a chance to see Peter again.

    A witch's promise is a fickle thing and once Wade says 'yes', Shiklah takes what she wants then turns the Prince to a mer and tosses him off a cliff into the sea.

    Wade wanders lost beneath the waves-- his beauty gone and skin ruined, his tail cut up and scarred. His charm is stripped away and he is angry, raging and violent and hearing voices in the currents as insanity creeps closer every day.

    The oceans are vast, and he is hopelessly lost, but even if Wade finds Peter again, how can they be together when he isn't the same man Peter pulled from the shipwreck? He is a monster now, and Peter won't want him.

    Will Wade ever see his soulmates eyes swirl Gold in love again?

    When massage therapist!Peter gets a call for a meet-and-greet appointment in a ritzy part of town, he doesn’t expect tall, scarred and holy muscles to open the door. Drawn first to Wade’s smile and then to the pain radiating out from the soldier, Peter tries to do everything he can to help Wade while also fighting his own attraction because ho ho holy crap is it a bad idea to sleep with clients. He is NOT that kind of massage therapist.

    Ex- soldier!Wade can hardly leave the house any more, too wracked with pain to make it very far out the door, too self conscious of his ruined skin to attempt dating or even friendships. But when Peter smiles at him, laughs with him, and somehow isn't icked out by Wade’s… mess… he starts thinking that maybe life could be something good again.

    Healing happens with both hands and hearts, and if Peter can manage to stay even a little bit professional long enough for Wade to get up the courage to ask him on a date, maybe they’ll find another use for all that massage oil.

    “You should stay.” Wade was stumbling over his words trying to convince Logan to stay. “There’s room for you here. And you’ll get used to Pete. Sure he’s a creepy crawly little bugger, but he’s also the sweetest little sugar cube in the world. And hey, it’s a douchey thing to 'wham bam thank you ma’am' save the world with me, and then leave."

    “Jesus Christ.” Logan huffed. “You really are a yapper, aren’t you?”

    “Certified yapper, yeah.” Wade bumped Logan’s shoulder. “Seriously. Stay. Please.”

    Logan put a hand to his chest, right over his stupid, hopeful heart. “Maybe a few days.”

    “A few days sounds good.” Wade budged closer until their knees knocked too and smiled like a smitten fool. “You’ll see. It’ll be fine. You and me and Pete-- it'll be fine."
