Summary
Regulus Black survives the Horcrux cave and reluctantly allies with the Order of the Phoenix so that he may continue his mission to restore the Dark Lord's mortality. His only regret is that he could not say goodbye to the man he loves. He will never see Severus Snape again, and he simply has to make his peace with that.
Severus is absolutely crushed when Regulus goes missing and is presumed dead. With the assumption among the Death Eaters being that Regulus got himself killed by Dumbledore's lackeys, Severus spends months motivated solely by revenge. When Lily Potter, the only person alive whom Severus loves, comes under direct threat, Severus must make a choice--loyalty to his dead lover or loyalty to the living woman who rejected him.
