But he’s also called Claire a few too many times to tell her Matt is currently bleeding out and “Claire his lips are turning blue, I don't, is it his lungs, I can't-” and had to watch Wade grow back full-on limbs to fully believe it. Even those like Captain America or Barnes can only take so many hits. People like Clint and Matt aren’t even that well off in the grand scheme of things. Sure, Matt can pretend pain rolls off of him and Clint can dodge but at the end of the day if they get shot in a vital place it could be the end for them.
“Maybe I should quit,” he thinks out loud, forehead pressed into May’s chest, and is shaken when she laughs.
